The Annual Meeting on the Improvement of Municipal Performance

In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Universe, peace and blessings be upon the Most Eminent Profit our Master Mohamed, his family and companions..

It is a dear occasion that we meet to inaugurate the fourth annual meeting about the improvement of the performance of the municipal departments under the title: Elections of the Municipal Councils, at the time when such activities started in Riyadh region. Other municipal councils will be elected at other regions of the Kingdom in sha Allah.

It is with the support of Allah that there are indications of this process of enrolment of voters in order to participate in the elections of the municipal councils in Riyadh region, for the accuracy of the process and that, it is going on according to the plans thereon. It also refers to the readiness for the steps to follow, which include registration of candidates and launching their promotion
Campaign and then voting.

I would like on this occasion to express my appreciation to the efforts exerted by, and still do, the committees related with the elections process at all regions of the Kingdom in order to provide all that is needed for the successfulness of the municipal elections process, and calling on them to review the experience of Riyadh region as a first phase through which they can be acknowledged on the several aspects which can be of benefit. I also call the electoral committees to be very accurate in accomplishing their tasks and be so keen to observe the procedures which aim to secure the honesty and neutrality of the process at all phases of the municipal elections.

It is glad tidings that the municipal elections coincide with the resolution of the fiscal budget of the government where the municipalities sector received almost 30% increase of its budget of this year. I do not need to remind you of the heaviness of this responsibility we are all assuming, as for better management of the budget and great care for it to be expended on what it has been allocated for, before the end of the next year. Also I hope for utilizing the allocations in the best practical way to secure achieving the required development for the whole of the municipal sector.

At the end I would like to thank His Highness the Mayor of Riyadh city and all his staff and the Local committee for supervision on the municipal councils elections, for the efforts and for the excellent work they have done to prepare for these elections. I pray and supplicate for the constant safety of this country and for it to avoid any misfortunes. I pray also for your success in your tasks and ask Allah to bless us all and lead us towards the best for our religion and our nation. He is the All-Hearing and the All Accepting.
