Riyadh Municipality launches a training course for “Environmental Health” students at King Saud University
Riyadh Municipality represented by General Directorate of Environmental Health has participated in 7th training course for cooperative education students, Department of Food Science and Nutrition in Faculty of Food and Agricultural Sciences at King Saud University in Riyadh.
The participation was a lecture presented by Dr. Saad bin Khalaf Al Mutairi, member of Environmental Health advisory team and Director of Municipal Services Center, where lecture included a presentation of General Directorate of Environmental Health , its importance in service of community, and its main service departments ,and their roles and functions, such as: Professional Licensing Department, Health Control Department, Slaughterhouses & Veterinary Affairs Department, Health Protection Department, Processing and Cemetery Affairs Department, Labs & Health Certificates Center, Environmental Center, Emergency Unit, and Women's Unit.
Dr. Al Mutairi spoke about health control of food establishments and its relation to public health through the definition of control and its importance, and the subject of traditional control compared with modern health control and technical and operational procedures in control work. He also spoke about a new and vital subject, which is privatization of establishments’ control, and experience of Riyadh Municipality in privatization project with a strategic partner from private sector.
