The traffic and transportation challenges are considered one of the fastest growing challenges around the world. They are also widely recognized as an important challenge due to the fast increasing demand on the transport network infrastructure and its impact on the economy and social prosperity.

Riyadh is one the fastest growing important cities in the world with an impressive infrastructure development programs. However, experiences from around the world indicate that traffic and transportation supply and demand management requires consistent efforts from all parties.

Out of the responsibilities of Riyadh Mayoralty, as a supervising and executing authority of the roads and streets of Riyadh City, it has felt the need to hold this Symposium, believing in the importance of the role of transportation and traffic engineering in solving traffic congestions, and improving the level of traffic safety, that are the fundamental demands sought after by all the authorities supervising the traffic management in Riyadh City.

Therefore, the objective is to gain knowledge from local and international experiences and expertise in order to accelerate the urban traffic and transport development, which will result in significant economic and social benefits, and increase the safety levels on the street network of our beloved capital.

The General Objectives of the Seminar
Shedding the light on the work of the traffic engineering units in the municipalities, and how to benefit from the scientific and regional expertise, and this by inviting such expertise to discuss the challenges imposed by the fast economic growth in Riyadh City to the transport and traffic infrastructure and comparing them with the expertise of similar cities, in addition to formulating clear and specific recommendations about the probable solutions to meet the demand for transport and traffic management and developing those units in tackling the urban transport and traffic problems.
