Riyadh Municipality has achieved a new Guinness World Record by registering the highest number of volunteers on an accredited volunteering platform within a single week in the city of Riyadh, on December 8, 2025. The number of registered volunteers reached 14,642, marking an accomplishment that reflects the growing culture of volunteerism in the capital and the community’s role in supporting environmental and developmental initiatives.

His Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region, participated today in the largest gathering of male and female volunteers as part of the “Riyadh Volunteers” initiative, hosted at Al-Nakheel Park in Riyadh.

The 61st World Planning Congress of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) concluded today in Riyadh. The event, organized by the Riyadh Municipality in cooperation with ISOCARP, followed a multi-day program featuring experts, planners, professionals, and academics from around the world. The sessions and workshops addressed the future of urban planning and the challenges facing contemporary cities, culminating in the official announcement of Riyadh Municipality’s membership in ISOCARP.

The third day of the 61st World Planning Congress (ISOCARP), hosted by the Riyadh Region Municipality from 1 to 4 December 2025 under the theme “Cities and Regions in Motion: Planning Pathways Toward Resilience and Quality of Life,” featured specialized sessions on urban planning, its future, and the use of technological tools to advance it.

Riyadh Region Municipality announced the launch of the “Riyadh Volunteers” initiative on December 8, through a unified volunteer day that will bring together the largest number of male and female volunteers to carry out environmental and field activities across various neighborhoods of the capital. The initiative aims to enhance the urban landscape and improve quality of life as part of the Municipality’s programs aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The Riyadh Region Municipality announced that the 61st World Planning Congress “ISOCARP” (ISOCARP), which the Municipality will host from 1 to 4 December 2025, has accepted 545 scientific papers out of 719 submissions for participation in the congress’s sessions and specialized tracks — a record-breaking figure in the organization’s 60-year history.
