This partnership aims to implement the child-friendly city Initiative in the Riyadh region by establishing a regulatory framework that defines the roles and responsibilities of each party, supported by clear mechanisms and joint working principles to ensure effective coordination and integration among stakeholders.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh, signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Arab Urban Development Institute (one of the institutions of the Arab Towns Organization) and the Women’s Committee for Community Development at the Riyadh Governorate to implement the initiative. Through this partnership, Riyadh Municipality seeks to enhance the city’s environment, improve quality of life, and serve residents in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on behalf of the Women’s Committee for Community Development by its Chair, Her Royal Highness Princess Noura bint Mohammed bin Saud Al Saud, and on behalf of the Arab Urban Development Institute by its Director General, Eng. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Salloum.
The agreement aims to organize and formalize cooperation among Riyadh Municipality, the Arab Urban Development Institute, and the Women’s Committee for Community Development in implementing the Child-Friendly City Initiative in Riyadh. It defines each party’s responsibilities, roles, and joint working procedures.
Under the MoU, all parties will dedicate their available resources and institutional relationships to ensure the success of the initiative across Riyadh and its governorates. This includes supporting and executing development and improvement efforts in shared spaces, parks, and safety requirements in line with child-friendly city standards, while considering urban design principles and the Neighborhood Humanization Programs implemented by Riyadh Municipality.
