Riyadh Municipality, in cooperation with citizen painters, has completed the work of beautifying the frescoes of the tunnel intersecting King Khalid and Prince Abdulaziz bin Thunayan Roads, as part of the Municipality’s efforts aiming at improving the urban landscape in the city and enhancing the artistic and creative aspects in the public spaces in the capital.
The murals paintings included a verse from a patriotic poem that expresses the cohesion of the leadership and the people and affirms the depth of national belonging by employing poetic heritage to beautify public spaces, and linking the prosperous present to the glorious past.
Riyadh Municipality targets many tunnels in the city and working in light of a strategic plan aiming at transforming Riyadh into an open artistic theater, in line with the capital's strategy emanating from the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its ambitious programs.
The tunnel murals’ beautification program aims to get benefit from the creative national energies and create suitable spaces for them to contribute to enhancing the aesthetics of public space, and to participate in achieving the national goals of the city.
The tunnel intersecting King Khalid road and Prince Abdulaziz bin Thunayan road is the third site that has witnessed the work of murals beautification, after Diriyah Tunnel and Cairo Square, as it complements with many of the specific programs and initiatives launched by Riyadh Municipality aiming at improving the urban landscape and quality of life in the city.
