Riyadh Municipality invests in its arenas for the benefit of the capital's people
Riyadh Municipality is working on optimal investment for infrastructure for municipal parks and squares, through intensive programs targeting various segments of society in the capital.
Municipal squares are places for exercising sports and competition among young people and an addition to the public parks, where Riyadh Municipality is seeking to integrate the services with modern design, which is based on opened squares to all, and surrounded by tracks for pedestrians, and have children's play area near to the family areas, while it contain basketball and football playgrounds, and other sports. These squares aim at promoting public health, through the encouraging for sport in general and walking sport in particular.
During the current summer, Riyadh Municipality has focused on investment of youth times in these arenas, through league represented in Summer STC tournament of municipal yards ,in which more than 3,400 players participate and distributed to 286 sports teams, the tournaments events which longs for more than a month on a 12 municipal yards distributed on the various parts of the capital.
In this context, Engr. Ibrahim bin Nasser Al-Hwaimel ,Director General of Parks in Riyadh Municipality, and Supervisor of Summer STC Championship of Municipal Arenas, said that investment arenas sites are considered one of the most important priorities, in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh Region, where HRH stresses on the importance of promoting social programs in neighborhoods through municipal squares ,which have become a real lungs, represents a good place to meet people from the neighborhood of all ages.
Engr. Al-Hwaimel expressed that these programs are followed up by Engr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Sultan, Mayor of Riyadh Region and the supervision and concern of Engr. Suleiman bin Hamad Al-Bathy, the Mayor -Deputy for Services in Riyadh Municipality.
