Riyadh Municipal Council received Eng. Tariq Al Fares, Mayor of Riyadh Region, in a session that included an open discussion on the most prominent issues of municipal affairs and citizens' feedback on municipal services.
The meeting included reviewing the urgent priorities on 4 main topics: landfills and cemeteries, sidewalks, traffic facilitation, closing factories, plastic laboratories, and warehouses from residential neighborhoods, and traffic jams at suspension bridge. It has been put forward recommendations of RMC to H.E. Mayor of Riyadh, to approve number of solutions and recommendations, and the most important of them are the rapid completion of transferring Al-Haier landfill and Al-Sulai burial cemetery to the new location in Al-Dagham, ending suffering of people who are living near Al-Sulai landfill, through applying advanced systems to prevent any odors from the landfill, preparing the new landfill as soon as possible, and taking into account the balance between increasing sidewalks space and achieving smooth traffic flow, as well as reviewing status of sidewalks in accordance with international standards, to achieve smooth flow of traffic by innovative and appropriate engineering solutions, to reduce traffic signals, especially in congested areas within sub-municipalities scope.
