Riyadh Municipality has completed its technical and logistical preparations to support efforts in sighting the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah this year. It aims to provide a suitable environment for crescent observers by equipping its affiliated astronomical observatories located in Shaqra, Tumair, and Al-Hariq.

The preparations included outfitting the observatories with the necessary tools and equipment, improving access roads, preparing parking areas, and ensuring safety requirements to guarantee the comfort of observers and facilitate their work. These sites are distinguished by their appropriate elevations and geographical locations, which offer favorable conditions for accurately sighting the crescent.

This initiative falls within the Municipality’s role in mobilizing its capabilities to support specialists and observers by providing a safe and encouraging environment, in cooperation with relevant authorities, to ensure that crescent sighting is conducted in accordance with both religious and scientific guidelines. It also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to improve quality of life and promote sustainable development.
