2025-02-09Riyadh Municipality continued its efforts to enhance the efficiency of stormwater drainage networks through extensive field operations carried out during January 2025, which contributed to improving the city's infrastructure and its capacity to manage rainwater.
The executed works included excavation volumes exceeding 82,170 cubic meters, backfilling works totaling 72,198 cubic meters, and the use of 5,500 cubic meters of concrete—reflecting the Municipality’s commitment to upgrading and optimizing drainage networks.
Additionally, the efforts covered asphalt paving over an area of 12,573 square meters, the installation of 779 linear meters of box culverts, and the laying of 10,190 linear meters of large-diameter pipes. Furthermore, 222 linear meters of horizontal tunneling were completed to improve water flow.
To strengthen the stormwater system’s efficiency, the Municipality also carried out maintenance work on 387 stormwater inlets and 181 manholes, ensuring the continued functionality of the network.
These efforts align with the Municipality's strategy to upgrade the city’s infrastructure according to the highest standards and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in enhancing quality of life and improving cities' preparedness for environmental and climate challenges.
