Riyadh Municipality has launched the “Azwah Award” as a pioneering initiative designed to recognize and encourage outstanding community initiatives in the municipal sector, while promoting civic engagement and fostering a culture of volunteerism.

A dedicated digital platform for the award has been made available via https://azwahaward.alriyadh.gov.sa/, providing a comprehensive mechanism for registration and initiative review. The platform enables participants to track their submissions from application through to the announcement of results. Bringing together individuals, organizations, and volunteer teams, the award highlights innovation and meaningful community participation, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of civic engagement and its role in improving quality of life in Riyadh, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. It also seeks to spotlight creative initiatives and success stories, encourage wider participation by individuals and institutions in local community development, and document the impact of volunteer work in the municipal sector while strengthening cross-sector partnerships.

The award is organized around several tracks. The municipal volunteering track focuses on measuring the impact of initiatives in the sector through criteria such as volunteer hours, opportunities executed, professionalism, and quality of performance, and includes categories for both individuals and volunteer teams. The pioneering community initiatives track targets innovative ideas from individuals or organizations that create tangible impact through active partnerships contributing to community development. The corporate social responsibility track recognizes organizations for activating initiatives and promoting sustainability practices. Finally, the Riyadh Municipality appreciation track is an honorary category dedicated to organizations and community leaders who have delivered distinguished initiatives that significantly enhanced social well-being.

Evaluation for the award is based on innovation, sustainability, and impact, in addition to documenting initiatives and strengthening collaboration with partners to ensure lasting results. It emphasizes teamwork and collective effort, reinforcing positive contributions to urban development and quality of life.
