A regulatory campaign carried out by the Riyadh Municipality in the Al-Faisaliah district in cooperation with security forces and several government agencies resulted in the closure of 85 establishments, the issuance of 171 violations, disconnection of electricity services from 32 sites, the arrest of 22 street vendors, and the confiscation of 13.5 tons of vegetables, fruits, and food items. Additionally, 901 tobacco products were destroyed, and 61 miscellaneous items were seized, along with 230 violations recorded by other participating government entities.
The campaign targeted commercial establishments operating without legal licenses, as well as residential homes partially converted into rental commercial spaces run by workers on their own account. Inspected sites included restaurants, laundries, barber shops, tailoring stores, clothing shops, and buffets, in addition to locations frequented by street vendors.
The inspection teams uncovered serious and diverse violations, most notably the sale of unlicensed tobacco products, spoiled food intended for sale to consumers, expired personal care products, and unsafe food storage practices. Edible items that were still fit for consumption were handed over to participating charitable organizations.
The Municipality took strict measures against these violations, including issuing warnings, drafting official violation reports, imposing fines, and shutting down establishments that posed risks to public health  all to protect consumers and ensure food safety.
The regulatory campaign will continue through daily and periodic inspection tours of neighborhoods and commercial areas, with ongoing follow-ups to verify the correction of violations. The Municipality is leveraging modern digital systems to document and monitor infractions efficiently.
The Municipality further emphasized that the “Madinty” application facilitates rapid field response to public reports, noting that residents’ cooperation forms an active partnership in safeguarding the community and ensuring service quality — in line with the Municipality’s vision to enhance urban sustainability and improve quality of life in the capital.
