His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of the Riyadh Municipality and Chairman of the Arab Urban Development Institute, met today in his office with His Excellency the Secretary General of the Arab Cities Organization, Mr. Badr Wael AlAsskar, on the occasion of his assumption of duties as Secretary General of the Organization.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness congratulated the Secretary General on his appointment, wishing him success in carrying out his responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of the Arab Cities Organization in the coming period to keep pace with rapid urban changes and to meet the aspirations of Arab cities, through adopting an effective approach to the Organization’s programs, initiatives, and priorities—thereby achieving tangible impact and maximizing benefits for cities.

His Royal Highness also affirmed the continued support of Riyadh Municipality and the Arab Urban Development Institute for the Arab Cities Organization across various fields, in a manner that advances its objectives and aspirations.

For his part, the Secretary General of the Arab Cities Organization commended the qualitative transformation witnessed by Riyadh Municipality over recent years, as well as the achievements of the Arab Urban Development Institute since His Royal Highness assumed its chairmanship. He highlighted the need for Arab cities to benefit from the urban transformation experience taking place in the city of Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Anas AlMughairi, Director General of the Arab Urban Development Institute.
